A game that could have gone either way this weekend against Aston Swallownest.

First Half.
Both teams got of the a very good start in the game on Saturday morning, both creating a fair amount of chances, Aston had several close range shots that were put just wide of the post. For SUCL both Hannah and Maggy had some good chances as well, Hannah had several long range shots from 35 yards out just going over the bar, Maggy went on another series of good runs getting to the edge ...of the box and shooting low and hard but the keeper was able to stop the shots.

After hitting the post Aston went a goal up forcing a slight change around in the defence Sadie and Sarina swapped sides of the defence so they were playing on their stronger foot, this added a new stability to the defence. For a period of time the whole defence seemed to be in tune with each other Beth and Emily held the central defensive area well, they were able to Enya in midfield so that possession could change hands.

After this Aston scored three well worked goals, managing to spring the offside trap several times. SUCL had a good chance to score late in the first half, a well worked corner found Sarina unmarked on the edge of the box, unfortunately Aston's defender did just enough to put her off sending her header over the bar.

Despite another good shift by the girls, two more goals followed quickly meaning the half time score was SUCL 0 - Aston Swallownest 5.

Second Half.
Aston seemed to come out of the half time break rejuvenated, they scored two in quick succession, the second half keeper Beth couldn't do anything to stop them, both were well placed shots one went in off the post, the other crept in just under the bar.

Enya and Sarina linked up well to keep the ball in the midfield area, several times they received the ball off Katie in defence and in trying to spread the play further but the pass to Natalie up front was intercepted.

After around an hour of play, Aston whipped a dangerous ball in to the SUCL box, in trying to head the ball clear, Katie unfortunately headed the ball over Beth in goal, making the score 0-8.

Late into the game Maggy and Natalie linked up well, spreading the ball from the left wing through the midfield and out towards the right hand side of the pitch to Ellie who ran with the ball to the edge of Astons box and dinked the ball over the goalkeeper from twenty yards out.

Unfortunately this goal was just a consolation in a otherwise disappointing game.

The score finished SUCL 1 - 10 Aston Swallownest.
