Reds clinch 2nd place to cap a great season !! (Under 14 Red)

I don't know where to start with this match??

It was a battle for who would finish second in the league, against a very talented Wednesday side and Wednesday came out of the blocks quicker and really took it to the girls. Kayha Williams who left the blades at Christmas was Wednesday's drivng force in that period and their player of the game in all fairness having an outstanding game. T who was standing in for Lauren pulled off some outstanding saves ... it could easily have been 2-0 to Wednesday.
Rachel Utley then suggested an inspired substitution putting Darcy up front who then showed pace and strength to hold of a massive Wednesday centre half to fire home 1-0.
The second half the girls showed immense battling qualities and I didn't feel like we would concede apart from a free kick. The defence and midfield were awesome.
Darcy then got an outstanding second, again latching onto a through ball, outpacing the defence and a Harry Kane Esque finish!! 7 in 6 now for the latest talent of the SUCL production line :-).
Mark and Rachel were outstanding stopping the tinkerman manager making needless substitutions with the game being on a knife edge!!
Wednesday scored in the last minute with their umpteenth free kick from just outside the box.
Girl of the game as chosen by the ref was Temiera who was awesome on the day!!
What a season!! Our highest ever finish - second!! Plus 2 tournament wins and runners up in the cup!! 4th was our best previous and we were 5th last year. There have been some massive ups and downs, I've aged 10 years!
I have to say a massive thanks to Mark, Rachel and Jackie who help me run the team. Also a massive thanks to all the parents. I realise how lucky I am to have such a great set who have been supportive, loyal and helpful to the team and girls for many seasons!! Events this year have brought that into focus!!
Most off all a massive thanks to the players. Their commitment and improvement year after year is amazing and I am truly proud to be their manager!!
