In todays away match against Worsborough the girls showed a lot of determination and progression from training and previous matches to put in a great performance.

In the first half the team were put up against a very physical Worsborough team, in which there were a few late tackles and challenges which went unpunished. The first half goalkeeper Hannah made a lot of good saves to keep the team in the game, after a few torrid deflections and lucky shots the opposition scored. Half an hour into the game Ellie found space on the edge of the box and fired a shot high into the centre of the net. At 1-1 Natalie broke through the opposing teams defence and was clean through to score but was given offside by the referee. Immi went on a great run down the left hand side of the pitch to create a chance for Ellie to cross the ball into the box, unfortunately play broke down before she could do so. Throughout the entirety of the match Kayleigh commanded the centre of midfield making lots of good clearances and challenges. Emily and Beth worked very well together as sweepers and were able to clean up and loose balls in the defensive areas.  During the latter stages of the second half Worsborough scored four more goals to make the half time score 5-1.

At half time the keepers were swapped around, Enya went in goal and Hannah was moved to the centre back position, SUCL's attacking partnership of Sam and Nat scored two great counter attacking goals, Sam, Nat and Sarina linked up well together to create both of these chances. After this there were very few chances for either team to score. In the early stages of the second half Katie took charge of the defence and provided a lot of through balls to the midfield and attacking players. Around twenty minutes into the game Worsborough scored a well worked goal, after that goal the defensive unit of Emily, Katie, Beth, Hannah and Immi worked very hard to scupper any further chances to score. Late into the game as fatigue was kicking in Worsborough upped the ante an scored two more goals. Even though the score had been increased the whole team carried on working together until the final whistle.  Final Score Worsborough 8-3 SUCL
